WASILLA — A pair of pre-teen girls whose disappearance Sunday sparked a chain of Facebook posts seeking information have apparently returned home.
Monday afternoon and evening dozens of people — including the Frontiersman’s own Facebook page— spread the news that the two girls, aged 12 and 13, had last been seen in the Engstrom Road area at around 11 a.m. Sunday.
By Tuesday morning friends and family posted that the girls had returned home. Asked to confirm, Alaska State Troopers made a brief statement.
“I can tell you there is not an active case,” Trooper Spokeswoman Megan Peters wrote in an e-mail.
She declined to say more, citing strict rules when it comes to releasing information about minors.
