MAT-SU — A man missing in Healy since the weekend has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in a heavily wooded ravine, Alaska State Troopers report.
Rob Gage’s family set up a Facebook page to help coordinate search efforts after he failed to show up to work July 16.
Troopers joined in the search, as did family and friends, combing the area near where Gage had been working as a welder for the Alaska Railroad. Searchers used aircraft, ATVs and dogs in the effort.
On Wednesday family found his pickup near Mile 275 Parks Highway.
Searchers found his body early Friday morning. All signs indicate Gage died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and no foul play is suspected.
