History will be made Monday evening when the Mat-Su Borough for the first time, accepts public comments by phone from residents on next year’s proposed budget. Call 891-7133 starting at 6 p.m.
Let us hear your ideas on savings and spending our taxpayer dollars on schools, roads, emergency services, Point MacKenzie, or any other constructive advice on the budget. The current proposal before the Assembly would spend about $13 million more than we expect to take in; just like some dip into their household savings accounts to get by.
For the first time people can get budget information online at matsugov.us and click the Budget button in the upper right. Thanks to Borough Manager John Moosey, Finance Director Tammy Clayton, IT Director Larry Macknicki, and all those who helped me move requests for more information, easy participation and transparency.
Thanks to the dozen or so people who came to share their views in Wasilla and Willow. The last public budget hearing is Monday at 6 p.m. sharp. Everyone is welcome whether coming in person or dialing in.
