Moore emerges as final winner for Wasilla House District 28 legislative seat

Wasilla’s Elexie Moore emerged as the final winner Monday, Dec. 9, in the State House District 28’s legislative race, following a recount of votes that were cast in the Nov. 5 general election. She defeated Steve Menard by a margin of 131 votes.

Moore received 2,911 votes in the final count to Menard’s 2,780, according to results of the recount posted Monday night by the state Division of Elections.

Jessica Wright, who was also in the race, received 1,997 votes. There were also 115 votes for write-in candidates.

Menard had requested the recount, which Moore supported. Both Moore and Menard are Republican.
