The Palmer boys' basketball team finished 2-2 in the annual Sparten Classic in San Diego, Calif. this week. The Moose improved to 5-2 overall.
Palmer opened the tourney with a 62-49 loss to Mount Miguel High School (Calif.).
The Moose rebounded to win two consecutive games, beating Orange Glenn (Calif.) 57-42 and Patrick Henry (Calif.) 62-60.
Palmer guard Dustin Dubois sank a pair of free throws with just five seconds remaining to help give Palmer the two-point win. Stanley Ratcliff led the Moose with 19 points in the contest. Dubois and Jesse Prins each added 15 points.
In Palmer's first win of the tourney, the Moose had five players with six or more points. According to Palmer head coach Brandon Blake, that is the balanced scoring attack fans can expect of his team.
"That is how I think the season will go," Blake said. "We are well balanced."
Dubois represented the Moose on the all-tournament team.
"I am happy with our finish," Blake said. "I figured if we could finish .500 I would be satisfied. I felt like we could go 3-1.
"I am not disapointed though, I am satisfied."
