FAIRBANKS — The Palmer rushing attack produced five rushing touchdowns and the Moose defense pitched a shutout in a 35-0 Railbelt Conference win over the Lathrop Malemutes in Fairbanks on Saturday.
The Moose (1-1) scored 21 second-quarter points en route to their first victory of the 2008 season. Two of those scores — a Brennan Bohman 14-yard run and a 25-yard Jim McCall scamper — came within a 31-second span during the final minute of the first half.
McCall’s touchdown was set up by a fumble recovery by Palmer defensive lineman Kevin Priestly.
Bohman, a junior, and McCall, a sophomore, accounted for all of Palmer’s scoring. Bohman led the Moose with 119 yards rushing and three scores, while McCall scored on both of his carries in the game.
Bohman gave the Moose a 7-0 lead with a 38-yard run in the first quarter, and capped the scoring with a 1-yard run in the fourth.
Palmer (1-0 in Railbelt play) will host West Valley at 7 p.m. Friday at Machetanz Field.
