The Palmer Moose boys and girls notched runner-up finishes during the Kenai Invitational swimming and diving meet over the weekend in Kenai.
Kylie Benner earned a pair of wins to lead the Moose girls. Benner was first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.35 seconds, and also was first in the 100 freestyle at 55.76. Teagan Havemeister added a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:09.59. Aubrey Stocker (200 individual medley) and Mollyann Dunlap (500 freestyle) both place second. Palmer also won the 200 freestyle relay.
The Moose finished with 83 points in the team standings. Host Kenai was first at 119.
Claire Wallstrum and Lyza Krozel led Colony in the girls class, sweeping the top two spots in the dive.
Blake Althens led the Palmer boys with a win in the 50 freestyle, and a time of 25.07. Teammate Eli Farabaugh was second. Althens also earned a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle, and Ben Willardson was second in the 500 freestyle.
Palmer placed first in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Moose finished with 81 points in the team standings, behind Kenai’s 116.
