ANCHORAGE — The Palmer Moose used a big second half to score a 51-28 win over the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears during the Alaska Prep Shootout third-place game at Dimond High School Saturday.
Palmer scored 30 second-half points and held Juneau to single digits in all four quarters during the win.
Connor Looney led the Moose with 25 points and five steals in the win. Looney shot 10 for 17 from the floor and was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line.
Brian Selmer added 17 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Hayden Niekamp added five points and eight rebounds.
Palmer was pushed into the third-place game with a 74-51 loss to Bartlett during the semifinal round on Friday.
Bartlett held a five-point lead after the third quarter, but blew the game open with a 29-11 fourth-quarter run.
Bradley Johnson shot 10 of 12 from the field for Bartlett and led the Golden Bears with a game-high 21 points.
Looney led the Moose with 17 points, seven rebounds and six steals. James Nisbett added 12 and Nathan Mayer chipped in 10.

Palmer girls split with CIC foes
PALMER — The Palmer Moose split a pair of weekend basketball games with Cook Inlet Conference foes at Palmer High School.
Friday, Palmer scored a 61-22 win over the Service Cougars.
Taylor Blake finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Leya DePriest collected 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kalei DePriest added six points and 13 rebounds.
West Anchorage took advantage of 23 Palmer turnovers and beat the Moose 60-49 on Saturday.
Blake scored 21 points in the loss. Leya DePriest recorded another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Palmer is now 9-3.
Houston girls runner-up
at Delta tourney
DELTA — The Houston Hawks finished second in the Dean Cummings Sr. Memorial Basketball Tournament at Delta Junction High School on Saturday.
Houston beat host Delta 49-38 in the semifinal Friday. Ne Ne Hale led the Hawks with 20 points during the win over the Huskies. Victoria Baybado added 11 and Savannah Wells chipped in 10.
Anchorage Christian School beat Houston in the championship game Saturday night.
Service boys run
past Wasilla
ANCHORAGE — Powered by big runs in the second and third quarters, the Service Cougars raced to a 75-28 win over Wasilla Saturday in Anchorage.
Service outscored 21-6 in the second quarter and 27-6 in the third.
Cameron Brown led the Warriors with 11 points in the loss.
