ANCHORAGE - The Palmer Moose put an end to Wasilla's season with a 3-2 (28-26, 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-11) win over Wasilla during the consolation semifinals of the ASAA/First National Bank 4A State Volleyball Championships at West Anchorage High School on Friday.
With the win, the Moose moved into the tournament's fourth-place match and will face Juneau-Douglas Saturday at 10:45 a.m. at West High. Juneau edged West Valley 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12) in the first match of the day Friday.
Both Palmer and Wasilla were pushed backward on the state bracket with first-round losses on Thursday. Palmer was upset by Eagle River 3-2, and Wasilla suffered a 3-1 loss to the two-time defending state champion South Anchorage Wolverines.
Colony will play for a spot in the 4A state title game Friday afternoon. The Knights face Dimond in the state semifinals at 3:45 p.m. Colony moved forward with a 3-1 win over West Valley on Thursday.
