PALMER — The Palmer Moose and Kodiak Bears could be setting the table for an exciting end to the Northern Lights Conference prep volleyball regular season.

Kodiak, which travels to Palmer to face the Moose Oct. 30-31 for the final two matches of the regular season, needed the tiebreaker to edge the Moose and win the Grace Christian Invitational at Grace Christian School in Anchorage Saturday.

After the NLC rivals split a pair of matches earlier in the tournament, Kodiak won the “if necessary” game, a first to 25 points set, to capture the crown.

After falling to Kodiak, earlier in the tournament, Palmer earned a rematch with the Bears by beating Valdez. The Moose followed with a best-of-3 win over Kodiak, which led to the if necessary game.

Palmer senior Carly Venzke was named the best defensive player in the tournament. Palmer’s Sammy Buresh and Tiana Lee were also named all-tournament.

Palmer (3-2 in NLC play) returns to the court to host NLC matches against Kenai, Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and Soldotna, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
