The Palmer Moose placed third in the platinum bracket of the Lady Grizzlies Volleyball Invitational Saturday at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.
The Moose fell one match short of reaching the platinum title match of the double-elimination bracket falling to Lathrop. The Malemutes scored a 2-0 (20-13, 21-19) win over Palmer.
The Moose finished 2-2 in the platinum bracket. Niksiki beat Palmer 2-1 (20-14, 12-20, 15-10) in the opening round, Palmer bounced back to beat rival Colony 2-1 (10-20, 20-10, 11-5) and Nikiski 2-1 (20-16, 10-20, 13-11) in elimination rounds.
Colony was 0-2 in the bracket. Kenai beat the Knights 2-0 (20-11, 20-15) before Colony’s loss to Palmer.
Kenai beat Lathrop in the platinum title match.
Houston finished tied for fifth in the silver bracket after losses to Cordova and Mount Edgecumbe.
Colony was 8-0 in pool play, before bracket play. Palmer was 6-2 and Houston was 1-7.
