Moose girls finish 1-1-1 in Homer Soccer Tourney

The Palmer Moose scored a girls soccer win over a Valley rival during the second day of the Homer Soccer Tourney with a 3-2 victory over Redington Friday at Homer High.

Janesssa Caldentey, Esmé Campfield, and Aelin Serencha scored for the Moose. Palmer capped its weekend with a 2-2 tie against Nikiski. Leah Roberts scored off an assist from goalkeeper Larkin Christensen’s drop kick in the second half. Sophie Adams knocked in a loose ball in front of the net for Palmer’s second goal.

Palmer opened the tourney with a loss to Kenai. Christiansen made 22 saves.

Earlier in the week, Redington edged Palmer 3-2 in the Valley. Caldentey and Roberts scored for Palmer. The Moose boys beat Redington 16-0.

In other action, the Wasilla girls split against a pair of Fairbanks opponents. Alia Shane recorded two goals and an assist during a 3-0 win over West Valley. Makenna Hanson added a goal and an assist. Lathrop edged Wasilla 1-0 the day before.
