Palmer earned its first Northern Lights Conference girls win of the season, beating Kodiak 65-46 Friday night at Palmer High School, and Saturday the Moose completed the two-game series sweep with 76-36 victory Saturday.
Catherine Uschmann led Palmer with 18 points Friday, and hit a pair of three-pointers. Olivia Lundin added nine and Danielle Umberger chipped in eight. Dazhlean MacLean led the Moose with 16 on Saturday. Lundin and Liv Solis added a dozen each.
The Palmer boys suffered a pair of losses in Kodiak over the weekend. Kodiak beat the Moose 37-32 on Friday and 46-36 on Saturday. Lavar Marshall and Carson Helm scored eight points each on Friday. Dae Osiensky led Palmer with nine on Saturday.
Knights sweep Stars
The Colony boys and girls finished 4-0 against Northern Lights Conference rival Soldotna at Colony High over the weekend.
Patrick McMahon scored 17 points to lead the Colony boys to a 50-25 win on Saturday. McMahon also had 16 in a 60-33 victory on Friday. Colton Spencer added 14 in the win Friday.
The Colony girls beat SoHi 40-33 on Friday and 42-17 on Saturday.
Warriors split with West Valley
Jazlynn Novelli used 22 points to lead Wasilla to a 56-47 nonconference girls basketball win over West Valley Saturday afternoon at Wasilla High.
Sierra Baird scored 13, and Bella Hays added nine and a team-high 13 points.
West Valley scored a 49-41 win over the Wasilla boys. Luke Devine led Wasilla with 11. Andrew Devine added 10.
