PALMER — The Palmer Moose used a 19-3 third-quarter run to score a 51-38 girls basketball win over the Chugiak Mustangs Saturday night at Palmer High.
Chugiak led 23-15 at the half, but Palmer senior Taylor Blake scored 10 of her game-high 26 points in the third to help the Moose grab the nonconference win in the season-opener for both teams. Kalie DePriest added six points for Palmer, which placed seven players in the scorebook.
Anna Ingerham scored nine to lead the Mustangs.
In boys action, Connor Looney poured in 26 points to lead the Moose to a 61-43 win over Chugiak. Looney connected on 10 shots from the field, and hit three of his team’s five three-pointers in the game. Nathan Meyor added 10 points in the win, and Brian Selmer chipped in nine.
Skyler Fullmer led Chugiak with 13 points, and Jake Brownlee added 11.
