PALMER — The Wasilla Warriors have already locked up the top seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming Northern Lights Conference Championships. Tuesday, Palmer knocked off the top squad in the NLC and put itself in contention for the remaining bye in the conference tournament.

The Moose posted a 3-1 (25-14, 25-18, 12-25, 25-19) win over the Warriors at Palmer High School.

Palmer improved to 5-4 with the victory. The third-place Moose sit a half-game behind Soldotna (6-4) in the NLC standings. Palmer caps its regular season Friday at Colony. With a win over the Knights, Palmer would force a tie with Soldotna (6-4). Tiebreakers would decide the No. 2 seed in the NLC tournament, and owner of the conference’s second first-round bye.

Wasilla dropped to 8-1 in NLC play with the loss. Palmer’s Madi Ko led the Moose with 10 kills during the win over the Warriors. Erika Spencer added eight kilss. Kennedy Bryan chipped in seven aces. Mallory Bradford finished with seven blocks.

Andraia Bella led the Warriors with 19 digs. Olivia Vincent collected with eight kills. Victoria Malek and Lyndsey Cizek recorded seven kills each. Cizek also furnished 20 assists.

The NLC Championships start Nov. 3 at Wasilla High School.
