PALMER — The Palmer Moose celebrated a walk-off win Thursday night.
Lucas Adams singled and Brady Shults scored in the bottom of the seventh to give the Moose a 5-4 Southcentral Conference win over Grace Christian in Palmer. Adams and Shults helped the Moose spoil the Grace Christian rally. The Moose led 4-0 after four innings, but the Grizzlies plated three in the fifth and tied the game in the sixth.
Landon Guggenmos pitched a complete game, and earned the win on the mound. The freshman scattered nine hits, but allowed only three earned runs. Five different players finished with a hit each for Palmer. Adams, Owen Hayes and Anthony Jones drove in runs.
Warriors clinch top seed
Wasilla blasted Redington 15-0 Thursday, and notched the top seed in the upcoming Southcentral Conference Championships in the process.
Bryce Frazier tossed a one-hitter in the win. Brothers Clayton and Carson Boyett combined to go 5 for 5 at the plate, with four RBI and three runs scored. Clancey O’Donnell and Jacob Gilbert scored three runs each.
Wasilla continued its surge Friday with an 11-1 win over Grace Christian.
Gilbert fanned nine over six innings, and notched the win on the mound. Max Wanser stood out at the bottom of the order, going 2 for 3 with three RBI. Byson Malave scored four runs. Jacob Hansen and Clayton Boyett finished with two hits and two RBI each. Boyett also scored twice.
Stars stun Moose
Soldotna used a big fifth inning to stun Palmer Friday in Palmer. The Star scored six in the fifth, and posted a 7-2 win over the Moose.
Palmer finished with just two hits, singles by Jason Gunderson and Cade Holland, in the loss. Owen Hayes and Anthony Jones each finished with an RBI.
