The Palmer Moose earned a runner-up finish in the team standings during the Eagle River Rumble wrestling tournament Saturday at Eagle River High School.
Ezra Ginn won the 171-pound weight class to lead the Moose, who finished with 146 total points in the team standings. Kaelan Vesel also advanced to the finals, and finished second at 215 pounds. Kael Salisbury-Gum (130), Nolan Deemer (152) and Carter Paulson (189) placed third, and William Lindsey (140), Duke McGuffey (145) and Rueger Mothershead (285) were fourth.
Third-place Colony crowned three champions. Noah Justice (103), Laramie Gibson (145) and Nolan Gallagher (215) each won their weight class. Tristan Mater (145) and Jackson Goss (285) were both second. Luke Roderick (160) was third and Thomas Weller (189) placed fourth.
Colony finished with 143 points in the team standings.
Wasilla was fifth with 112.5 points. Chase Foss was first at 119, and Achillies Alexander was second in that weight class. Joseph Spangler (130) and Kaleb Boothby (152) were also second, and Thalyn Reynolds placed third.
Redington’s Myles Campbell won the 152-pound class during the Mountain City Wrestling Invitational in Anchorage.
In the Mountain City girls tournament, Colony’s Amelia Fawcett led Valley wrestlers with a first-place finish at 145 points. Grace Loutzenhiser (100) placed second for the Knights and Gia Jones (185) was fourth.
Noelle Buck was second at 235 for Palmer. Wasilla’s Taryn Wright (120) and Brynlee Lutz (126), and Redington’s Nikayla Miller (185) placed third.
