PALMER -- All their shots may not have fallen, but the Palmer Moose used rugged defense to score a 56-34 win over the Skyview Panthers at Palmer High School on Friday.
The win gives the Moose a 5-0 Region III record and a 7-3 overall mark.
Palmer used a 12-0 run and held the Panthers scoreless for nearly a five minute period at the end of the first half. Stanley Ratcliff and Julious Draughon each scored four points during the run and and Palmer forced four turnovers in the stretch.
"It was one of those nights where our shots were just not falling," Palmer head coach Brandon Blake said. "Our defensive effort could not have been bigger."
Palmer's 12-0 run gave the Moose a 27-15 advantage at halftime. The Moose used a 12-2 run early in the third quarter to place a large cushion between themselves and Skyview.
"We had a couple of big runs," Blake said.
On Friday the Moose downed Homer 83-38.
Ratcliff led the Moose with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in the first triple-double of the Blake era.
