SOLDOTNA — The Palmer Moose survived a late Kenai Central surge to score a 4-3 North Star Conference win over the Kardinals at the Soldotna Sports Center on Thursday.
Palmer scored three times on the power play and improved to 7-0-0 in North Star play.
Nick Reeves had a goal and two assists to lead the Moose.
Palmer scored first in the game, with Miles George beating Keegan Remsen on assists from Stephan Acher and Reeves. Kenai answered later in the first period when Morgan Cunningham scored on assists from Zack Zulkanycz and TJ Wagoner.
Palmer had three unanswered goals in the second period. Reeves scored unassisted, Piers LaFrance scored on assists from Ivan Good and Reeves, and Dalton Buness scored on assists from Marrisa Ketterman and Jacob Inukai.
In the third period, Remsen shut the Moose down as the Kardinals mounted a comeback. Palmer outshot Kenai 40-35 in the game, but the Kardinals outshot Palmer 15-10 in the third period.
Dylan Hendricks, on scores from TJ Wagoner and Zack Mese, and Matt Morse, on an assist from Zulkanycz, to bring the Kardinals within one goal.
Remsen had 36 saves, while Ashton Good had 32 saves for the Moose.
