The Dimond Lynx scored a sweep over a pair of Palmer Moose teams in prep soccer action at Dimond High School on Friday. The Lynx boys edged the Moose 1-0, and the Dimond girls shutout Palmer 6-0.
Depsite a stellar effort from Palmer goalkeeper Trent Berberich, the Lynx were able to slip one shot by.
At the 61st minute of the contest, Dimond sophomore Cody Sloan took a throw-in pass and put a shot over the head of Berberich.
The Moose, led by the offensive attack of Ben Beetch and Rory Egelus, had opportunities on goal, but were unable to put something on the scoreboard. Dimond keepers John Weindel and Jase Hall combined for the shutout.
Carolyn Savage notched a pair of goals to lead the Lynx girls past Palmer.
Joree McCarrey and Lindsey Ingaldson also scored for Dimond.
Ashley Ohlson recorded the shutout.
Both Palmer squads fell to 0-1-0 with the losses.
The Moose will try to rebound as they visit Wasilla on Tuesday. The Wasilla and Palmer girls meet at 3 p.m., while the boys play at 5 p.m.
The Colony girls saw their first action of the season last weekend, falling to Juneau-Douglas in a pair of games. Colony lost each game at Juneau 10-0.
Wasilla and Houston have yet to play in their season openers.
