PALMER — Four events. Four wins for Ellyse Russell.
The Palmer standout earned a pair of individual wins, was part of a pair of relay victories, and helped the Moose finish first in the team standings during the Wasilla Invitational swimming and diving meet Sept. 29 at the Palmer Pool.
Russell and the Moose finished with 128 total points, best of five squads competing in the single-day meet. Russell finished first in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races, and helped the Moose with the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Lindsay Musgrave also won an event for the Moose, placing first in the 100 backstroke.
Russell was among three Valley athletes to notch a pair of wins during the meet. Alexis Mattson led the Colony girls with victories in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Camren Hancock finished first in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke to lead the Wasilla boys.
Wasilla’s Carrie Meyer (girls’ diving) and Miles Laughlin (boys’ 200 freestyle); Colony’s Eli Krozel (boys’ diving) and Konnor Kolberg (100 butterfly); and Palmer’s Stewart Sawyer (boys’ 200 individual medley) also earned wins during the meet.
Krozel and Kolberg helped Colony finish first in the boys team standings with 95 total points.
