Moose swimmers hit Valdez

Voice of the student-athlete, by Whitney Bostick

Early on Friday morning the PHS swim and dive team hit the Glenn and Richardson Highways for Valdez. When reaching its destination of the Valdez High School Pool the team met up with the Valdez, Unalaska, Monroe and Cordova high school swim teams.

The Palmer High School girls swim team walked away from the Valdez Invitational on Friday with its first trophy in a while. The girls won the meet with 350 points. The boys team took second place, Cordova High School came in first for the boys. Also, Palmer High's Hal Willardson came away with the Most Outstanding Male Diver Award. Willardson even tried his hand at swimming some backstroke, and he did really well for his first try.

Our coach Tim Lundt even participated in two of the boys' relays, the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. The girls 200 freestyle relay did an outstanding job dropping their time to 1:57.59.

Overall the meet went swimmingly for everyone there.
