Moose trample North Pole for first baseball win

PALMER — The Palmer Moose pounded 13 hits en route to their first win of the season, scoring a 15-5 nonconference victory over the North Pole Patriots Thursday night in Palmer.

Damion Bailey, one of six different Moose to drive in at least a run, led Palmer with three RBI in the victory. Peyton Garrettson, Austin Reeder, Cade Holland and Hayden Shults each finished with a pair of RBI. Aaron Christiansen led the Moose with four runs scored. Shults, Ryan Kavalok and James Nelson scored twice each.

Knights drill North Pole

Colony used a 10-run fourth to hammer North Pole 18-3 Friday night in Palmer.

Cooper McLaughlin scored three times and drove in three runs to help lead the Knights to the nonconference win. Kolten Ketchum and Cooper Smith also scored three runs each. Zachary Sattetly and Trace Severson finished with three RBI each.

Every Knights player in the lineup scored at least one run.

Cougars get by Knights

Service scored all five of its runs in the third inning of a 5-2 nonconference win over Colony Thursday. The Knights were held to only three hits in the loss. Tyler Boyer was 1 for 2 with a run scored for the Knights.

Eagles edge Warriors

West Anchorage scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to edge Wasilla 8-6 in nonconference action Friday night at Bartlett High School in Anchorage.

Jeffrey Forster drew three walks in the loss for the Warriors.

Wolfpack score softball win over Moose

West Valley posted a 8-1 girls’ softball victory over Palmer Thursday in Palmer.

Jenna Sutton finished with a hit and run scored for the Moose. Peyton Murphy recorded the RBI.
