PALMER - It was an evening of missed opportunities for the Colony Knights.
Despite working in its opponent's territory for much of the game, the Colony offense could only muster six points and West Anchorage stole a 7-6 nonconference win over the Knights at Colony High School on Friday.
West sophomore Conor Feckley heaved an 84-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to lift the Eagles (2-0) past the Knights (0-2). Mitchell Slater pitched a shovel pass to Skye Rench and Rench rumbled for 31 yards in the first quarter to give the Knights the 6-0 lead.
Palmer improved to 1-1 with a 46-0 win over Lathrop at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks. Senior Jim McCall picked off three Lathrop passes to help the Moose defense shutout the Malemutes for the third time in as many years.
Wasilla fell to 0-2 with a 21-18 loss to North Pole.
