Agency-workshop meetings about the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project are planned Feb. 27 to March 2, in the conference room near the project office in the Sunshine Mall in Anchorage.
Meetings are:
• Social Sciences (socioeconomics, transportation, recreation, aesthetics) — 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Feb. 27
• Cultural Resources, Subsistence, and Terrestrial Resources — 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Feb. 28
• Fisheries and Aquatics and Instream Flow — 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 1
• Water Resources (geomorphology, water quality, ice processes) — 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., March 2
Additionally, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission scoping meetings are scheduled in:
• Anchorage from 6 to 10 p.m., March 26 at the Loussac Library
• Anchorage from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 27 at the Z.J. Loussac Library
• Wasilla from 6 to 10 p.m., March 27 at the Curtis Menard Memorial Sports Center
• Talkeetna from 6 to 10 p.m., March 28 at the Susitna Valley High School
• Glennallen from 6 to 10 p.m., March 28 at the Caribou Café Banquet Room
FERC holds scoping meetings to identify relevant issues and reasonable alternatives to be considered in the licensing process. In this instance, to ensure they are addressed in the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project study planning process and FERC’s Environmental Impact Assessment.
