With all of the negative press towards Matanuska Electric Association lately, I think it’s important to recognize the company when it does things right.
Yesterday (Monday) in Big Lake we were pounded by winds that I’ve never seen in all of our years in the Valley. Our fence blew down, then the power went out and it stayed out. Looking around it was clear that the entire Horseshoe Lake area was in the dark.
Today (Tuesday) my wife and I went out to look around the neighborhood and see if the neighbors could use some help. We were overjoyed to see a white MEA truck with two very tired looking linemen clearing the fallen trees from the power lines and working to turn the lights back on. Thanks to all of the workers at MEA for a job well done. We can’t prevent or predict storms like the one that hit us, but it’s nice to know that the power company is on the ball in getting our lights turned back on afterwards.
