PALMER — Colony senior Shane Duque was among 13 Mat-Su Valley players named first-team All-Railbelt by conference coaches Wednesday evening.
Duque, a first-team selection at defensive tackle who was also named the conference’s lineman of the year, is one of seven Knights on the first team.
Colony senior Matt Jaronik earned first-team honors at three different positions. Coaches listed Jaronik at defensive back, punt returner and utility man.
Offensive tackle Trey Farber, offensive guard Dakota Wainright, inside linebacker J.D. Mayo and outside linebacker Ben McGraw also received first-team honors.
Senior Brennan Bohman led a group of four Palmer Moose on the first team.
Bohman, the state’s leading rusher with 1,038 yards, was named first-team running back and punter.
Offensive tackle Wes Jansen, inside linebacker Coleman Ahrens and defensive back Jim McCall were also named first-team.
Despite playing the first half of his senior season at quarterback, Wasilla’s Cody Pfeifer was named first-team at wide receiver. Pfeifer recorded 15 catches for 229 yards and six touchdowns during the final five weeks of the season.
Defensive lineman David Green was also named first-team for the Warriors.
Colony and North Pole each placed a conference-high seven players on the first team.
North Pole senior Lee Jones was named first-team at quarterback and linebacker. He was also tabbed as the offensive player of the year.
Juneau-Douglas placed six players on the first-team, including defensive player of the year Jack Perkins.
Perkins is one of four Crimson Bears named first-team offense and defense.
Bohman was among seven Moose named to the second team.
Bohman earned second-team honors at defensive back and kick returner.
McCall (wide receiver), Ahrens (fullback), offensive tackle Ben Self, offensive guard Evan Parsons, linebacker John Scoresby and defensive lineman Danny Konkler were each named second-team.
Offensive tackle Kaulen Pevan, defensive end Misha Hall, linebacker James Langendorf, defensive back Chris Bydlon, kicker Paul Sliwa and punter Kyle Welton were named to the second team for Wasilla.
Jaronik (quarterback), Farber (defensive tackle), running back Skye Rench, tight end Eric Fan and linebacker Tyler Jimenez were named second-team for Colony.
