Incumbents are ruling the 2023 Mat-Su Borough elections, with one exception.
Bill Gamble in Assembly District 5.
Gamble, the challenger for the seat, leads incumbent Mokie Tew 751-529, according to the unofficial results released by the borough Tuesday night.
In a pair of highly publicized races for a pair of Mat-Su School Board seats, current members Ole Larson and Kathy McCollum appear to have earned another term. Larson, a longtime board member, leads Dianne Shibe 1,125-826 in District 6. McCollum, vying for her second term, leads Sydney Zyus 995-484 in District 3.
In the assembly races, incumbent Dmitri Fonov earned 1,021 votes in District 6, a total well ahead of challengers Stafford Glashan (426), Kerby Coman (227) and Jackson Abney (179).
Incumbent Rob Yundt ran unopposed in District 4.
Proposition 1, a road bonds package, received 5,916 yes votes, and 2,855 no votes.
