Mother allegedly has daughter help her drive drunk

WASILLA — A woman a witness alleges had her child blow into her ignition interlock device so the car would start was jailed on drunken driving charges.

An ignition interlock device is essentially a Breathalyzer that courts order people with drunken driving convictions to have installed on their cars. The device prevents the car from starting without a clean test result. According to an Alaska State Troopers press statement, the witness called in the report at 7:19 p.m., March 15 near Mile 5 Knik-Goose Bay Road.

Troopers pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Misty Michelle Danford, 40, of Wasilla. She was arrested for drunken driving, driving on a revoked license and child endangerment. She was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $3,000 bail.
