WASILLA — A 33-year-old mother of six was killed and her 5-year-old daughter airlifted to an Anchorage hospital in critical condition following an early Friday afternoon accident on Wasilla-Fishhook Road near Wampam Circle.

According to Wasilla Police Chief Gene Belden, a Ford Focus, driven by Alla Maas was northbound on North Wasilla Fishhook Road when her vehicle crossed the centerline, hitting a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Robert Webb of Wasilla. Webb was not injured in the collision, which occurred around 1:15 p.m. Maas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Belden said the girl was transported by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. According to family member, the child, who suffered fractured ribs, a ruptured spleen and broken pelvis among other injuries, was then airlifted to Anchorage. As of Tuesday evening, the child had undergone two surgeries, family members stated. The chief said as of Tuesday afternoon, the accident remains under investigation.

Maas was a 2001 graduate of Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington. According to a gofundme.com post, Maas was married with six children — three boys and three girls with the youngest, a 2-year-old. The post said the family had recently relocated to Alaska from Missouri.
