Free admission for mom for Parade of Stallions
Alaska Morgan Horse Association’s Parade of Stallions is at the France Equestrian Center at noon at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. Come see the famous team of Black Percherons. Sale horses begin at 11 a.m.
Wasilla Area Senior’s invites the community to its Mothers Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brunch includes eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits and gravy, roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Mom eats free, adults are $12 and tickets for seniors, military and children 12 and under are $6. A photographer also will be available to take family photos for $5.
Join the Palmer Elk’s Lodge No. 1842, on Barrys Resort Road, for the annual Elk’s Mothers Day Brunch and Ceremony from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for adults is $15, mothers eat free with a paid adult, and cost for children 10 and under is $7. For more information, visit palmerelks.org.
Amazing Grace Academy, 2238 S. Inner Springer Loop, has organized a Mothers Day Fun Run 1-mile and 5-K run. Registration is at 8 a.m., at the event, or early registration is offered May 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. The 1-mile race begins at 9 a.m., and the 5-K begins at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Denali Arts Council's Music Academy will offer a free Mothers Day concert at 4:30 p.m., at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar in Talkeetna. Doors open at 4 p.m. Students of all levels will be featured, as will the Rhythm and Red Shoes Orchestra. This is a free concert for the community. Come support the continued progress of your neighbors and friends as they pursue the benefits of playing music.
