WASILLA — Turns out Jim McClain does fairly well on four wheels too.
McClain, who has more than 60 motocross wins under his belt, emerged as the top driver in the celebrity races hosted by North Star Speedway in Wasilla on Saturday night.
McLain finished ahead of the pack in the first heat and later won the feature race. KWHL’s Bob Lester won the second heat and finished as the feature race runner-up. Alaska Aces head coach Brent Thompson and radio personality Joe Campbell finished fourth and fifth respectively in the feature race.
Jim Langland continued his good start to the summer with a pair of wins in the thunderstocks. Mike Thomas finished as the top legend in the first head and feature race.
A crash in the celebrity race pulled cars to a stop. Thompson’s car rubbed bumpers with another vehicle and flipped several times. The Aces head coach was sent to the hospital with minor injuries, but released. For more on the accident, see Page A3.
