BIG LAKE — Alaska State Troopers are placing blame for the crash of a pickup in the Big Lake-area on a pair of motor scooters, according to a press release detailing the Wednesday incident.
According to an AST press statement, the crash was reported at 11:43 a.m.
James E. Thompson, 63, Wasilla, was northbound on Big Lake Road attempting to make a right turn onto North Shore Drive when two motor scooters cut Thompson off, the report says.
Troopers say Thompson lost control of his 1989 Ford Ranger, hit a light pole at the intersection and knocked it down.
“Thompson continued across North Shore drive, where he clipped another light pole, drove down a ditch and into a parking lot where he struck a parked vehicle,” according to the press release.
He was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The pickup is considered to be totaled.
