Motorcycle crash hospitalizes Palmer 6-year-old

PALMER — A 6-year-old boy remains hospitalized after a motorcycle collision Saturday evening that left him trapped under a pickup.

Alaska State Troopers say they responded to the call on N. Nelchina Drive around 7:18 p.m., June 8 “where the operator of the motorcycle was trapped under the truck.”

According to their investigation, troopers report the 6-year-old was riding his Honda 50cc motorcycle down his driveway when he entered the roadway and drove into the path of a southbound 2003 Chevy pickup driven by a Wasilla man.

Troopers say the boy was transported by emergency helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, where hospital staff confirmed Sunday evening he was a patient.

The boy was wearing a helmet, according to troopers. The driver of the truck was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.
