BIG LAKE — A motorcyclist that hit a moose nearly two weeks ago succumbed to his injuries at an Anchorage hospital Monday.
According to an Alaska State Trooper press release, John William Wysong died at 11:35 p.m. at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
He’d been there since Oct. 17 when, riding his 2003 Honda XR400R on Pond Lilly Street in Big Lake, he hit a calf moose that ran out into the road. Troopers say he wasn’t wearing a helmet.
Immediately following the crash, he was airlifted to Anchorage in serious condition.
Pond Lilly Road runs south from Hollywood Road approximately two miles from its intersection with Big Lake Road.
