Thinking about running for Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) Assembly or School Board? Candidate packets are available, starting Wednesday August 13.
There are several seats available, depending on the district you reside in. Candidates for Assembly seats shall reside in the Borough and in the Assembly District for which they file for one year immediately prior to the election and meets the requirements of MSB 2.12.030 and 25.15.010.
Here are the seats available for MSB Assembly:
Assembly District 1 – one-year term ending November 2026
Assembly District 2 – one-year term ending November 2026
Assembly District 4 – one-year term ending November 2026
Candidates for the School Board seats shall reside in the Borough and within the Assembly District boundaries for which they file (MSB 19.04).
Here are the school board seats available:
School Board District 2 – three-year term ending 2028
School Board District 5 – three-year term ending 2028
School Board District 7 – three-year term ending 2028
Candidates need to provide proof that they are eligible or shall be eligible by the date of the election, to be recognized as a candidate for any election and meet the requirements of MSB 25.15.010.
The Candidate Declaration filing period is Monday, August 18 at 8 a.m. through Friday, August 29 at 5 p.m. Candidate Declarations shall be submitted in original form to the Borough Clerk’s office. They cannot be transmitted electronically.
The Borough’s regular election date is on the first Tuesday, following the first Monday, in November. The 2025 regular election is scheduled for November 4, 2025.
