During the Matanuska Susitna Borough’s (MSB) Regular Assembly meeting on Tuesday, MSB Mayor Edna DeVries took a few moments to honor winners and honorable mention awardees of the 15th Annual Mat-Su Emergency Preparedness Youth Poster Contest.

Emergency Operations Specialist for the Department of Emergency Services Talon Boeve introduced the winners, ranging from age groups of 5-6 up to age 16-18.

Boeve thanked the sponsors of the contest before bringing the winners of each age category up to meet the mayor and receive a certificate for their work. The winners were also presented with personal emergency supply kits from The Red Cross, gift cards from Alaska Safe Riders and certificates of recognition.

“It’s always good to see young people at the Borough building, and participate in things like this,” said Mayor DeVries.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s contest.
