During the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) school board meeting on May 22, 2024, board members and administration took time to honor each of the 52 MSBSD retirees this year, all who worked in various roles within the district, from custodians to teachers, some retiring after more than 27 years of service.
“While it's bittersweet to see the vast wealth of experience depart from our District, we are excited for you to pursue your future endeavors. Your dedication and service to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District have left a lasting impact on our students and community. Though not all retirees are pictured, every one of you has made a significant contribution. We wish you all the best in your well-deserved retirement," MSBSD Superintendent Dr. Randy Trani said.
The board then took a few minutes to recognize the vocal and instrumental musicians participating in high school music programs, celebrating 46 students for their various accomplishments during the school year, including participants in the All-State Music Festival which took place in November, and Alaska State Solo and Ensemble Command Performances.
“Congratulations to our high school musicians and many thanks to their talented and dedicated teachers for supporting their development as musicians and human beings," Trani said.
