PALMER — Law enforcement maintained a presence at Palmer area schools Thursday following a threat made on social media.
According to Mat-Su Borough School District Public Information Officer Jillian Morrissey, school district administration became aware of the post on Wednesday night and increased security personnel and law enforcement at Palmer High School, Palmer Junior Middle School, and Colony High and Middle Schools on Thursday morning.
Police are currently investigating the threat, which was allegedly made via Snapchat.
Palmer High School Principal Paul Reid sent an email before school started on Thursday alerting parents of the threat.
“There is no evidence at this point to suggest the threat is true. School is open today. Student safety is our number one priority,” Reid wrote.
