The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) confirmed on Tuesday that school board member Jacob Butcher, who represents District 5, has resigned from the school board following a move out of the state.

MSBSD Chief Communications Officer Jillian Morrissey confirmed his resignation, “effective immediately,” and said the district would be posting an official announcement and opening up his spot on Wednesday, following the Mat-Su Borough elections.

“We will include eligibility requirements, the application forms, and the deadline to submit.”

District 5 encompasses Big Lake down to Point Mackenzie.

Member Butcher’s term was set to expire in 2025.
