Congratulations to Tanaina Elementary School’s Joseph Wilhour, this week’s Mat-Su Borough School District Student of the Week.
Nominated by Tanaina Elementary nurse Kristine Lord and teacher Kellie Merrill.
Tanaina has participated in Jump Rope for Heart (sponsored by the American Heart Association) for six consecutive years. This year one student set a goal to raise a $1,000 in honor of his aunt, Debbie, who died of heart complications. Joseph Wilhour exceeded his goal and raised $1,025. This is the first time Tanaina has ever had a single student raise that amount of money for the American Heart Association. The school is very proud of Joseph and all the other students who participated.
