MAT-SU — Matanuska Telephone Association’s annual membership meeting is Wednesday with three candidates vying for two seats and a slate of bylaw changes on the ballot.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., at Raven Hall at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The three candidates are challenger accountant Adelane Kelly, 17-year board incumbent Earl P. Lackey and another board incumbent, businessman Larry Wiget.
The top vote-getter will receive a three-year term. A two-year term will go to the second highest vote-getter.
The bylaw changes would change the way the yearly audit is reported at the annual meeting, the type of records that have to be kept of each meeting and bump up the required number of members that need to sign a petition to get something on an MTA ballot and make petition gatherers declare certain information regarding their financial interests on circulated petitions.
The meeting will feature a light dinner, Iditarod Champion Martin Buser and a demonstration of the phone company’s latest products
