MTA elects new board members

PALMER -- Some 11,240 Matanuska Telephone Association members voted in this year's MTA election, with most of the votes going to incumbent Mike Combs and former board member Earl Lackey.

Combs, who received 3,745 votes, will serve a three-year seat on the board, and Lackey, who received 2,342 votes, will serve for two years. Contenders Jason Hamlin, Teresa Chepoda-Usisbelli and Dr. R. John Ray received 2,124 votes, 1,803 votes and 1,226 votes, respectively.

The proposed amendment to the MTA bylaws to update and clarify campaign disclosure passed 4,952-815.

Following the general member meeting on Wednesday, the board re-elected Al Strawn as the chief governance officer and Katherine Hurley as secretary of the board. This year's board of directors is Strawn, Katherine Hurley, Mike Combs, Earl Lackey and Benny Cottle.
