MTA hires new finance officer

Matanuska Telephone Association recently hired Wanda Phillips to take over the post of chief financial officer. Phillips comes to MTA from the municipality of Anchorage where she served as controller and then director of the office of management and budget.

“Wanda’s strong background in finance will be a great asset to our co-op as we pursue future growth,” said MTA’s CEO Greg Berberich. “We’re very pleased that she’s joining our team as MTA is aggressively developing new products and services.”

Phillips has worked for Deloitte & Touche, one of the world’s largest auditing firms, and for the State Auditor’s Office in Washington state. She is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Washington University. Before moving to Alaska, she was the finance director for the city of Anacortes, Wash.
