PALMER — Matanuska Telephone Association members voted during the co-op’s annual meeting June 5 to retain two incumbent members of the board and approved two proposed bylaw changes.
Re-elected at the 60th annual meeting conducted Wednesday at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer were George Trabits and Al Strawn. Trabits was re-elected to serve a three-year term with 3,344 votes. Strawn was re-elected to serve a two-year term with 3,275 votes.
About 500 people attended the annual meeting, which included demonstrations of the latest products, dinner and door prizes.
During a special board meeting immediately following the election, Earl Lackey was selected to serve as the chief governance officer of the MTA board and Catherine Fosselman will serve as secretary of the board. Larry Wiget rounds out the five-person board.
Both proposals on this year’s ballot also passed.
Proposal No. 1: Correcting and Clarifying Miscellaneous Provisions — passed with 3,564 votes in favor, and 297 opposed.
Proposal No. 2: Updating Voting Requirements — was approved with 3,476 voting in favor and 389 opposed.
