To the editor:
We are living in interesting times and recent changes in our basic institutions have been overwhelming. While living in Alaska insulates us from some of this change, we still have to adapt and overcome, just as we have in the past. It is part of the Alaskan spirit.
Change will become the norm as MTA adjusts to a new economy and new opportunities presented to the association. To assure that growth comes from change, dedication to a new vision of communication will be required to ensure we are reaching out to make ourselves known as a provider of quality service. Recently at a meeting, I heard someone ask who the telecommunication providers were in the state, the answer given was GCI and ACS — MTA was not even considered. MTA needs to change, grow and communicate its potential.
Without change there can be no growth, MTA to survive must grow. Without communication there can be no change. I am running for the MTA Board of Directors and my No. 1 priority is to ensure that true communication — a free flow of relevant information — takes place between the board and the members so important decisions can be made together, and together as association members we can grow to the future.
