Valley residents can get help with their tax returns at several places.
All the tax helpers are staffed by AARP volunteers trained by the IRS to prepare basic tax returns. E-file means it’s fast, accurate and free. Volunteers receive training on the Earned Income Credit and other personal tax credits for all ages. It would help if you would bring in your Social Security cards and the amount, if any, of real estate taxes paid in 2009.
The locations are:
• Mid Valley Senior Center, 11975 West Mid Valley Way, Houston. Turn at Mile 53 Parks Highway and follow the signs. March 26 and April 9, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 892-6114 after 10:30 a.m., on weekdays for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
• Palmer Senior Center, 831 Chugach Street. Through April 10 (no service on Good Friday, April 2), Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call 745-5454 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
• Upper Su Senior Center, 16463 East Helena, Sunshine-Talkeetna. April 1 and April 8, 12:30 to 4 p.m. Call 746-6113 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
