WASILLA — A man set fire to his bedroom and then stabbed his foster mother to death Monday morning, authorities said.
Kenneth Adams, 19, of Wasilla, faces arraignment on charges of murder, attempted murder, and arson at 1 p.m. today in Palmer, Alaska court documents show.
Alaska State Troopers responded to reports of injuries at a house on Pioneer Peak Drive in Wasilla about 5 a.m. and discovered Mollie Ragonesi, 66, of Wasilla, dead in her residence, according to trooper dispatches. Adams, who also lived in the home, was arrested after a brief investigation, according to dispatches.
The call was originally reported — and appears in today’s print edition of the Frontiersman — as a found body.
Daniel Ramsey was hospitalized at Providence with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. He was in stable condition Monday, Troopers said. Adams had stabbed Ragonesi and the second victim multiple times, authorities said.
James Springer living in the residence had subdued Adams by the time troopers arrived on-scene, according to dispatches.
He was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility in Palmer and held on $500,000 bond and third-party custodian conditions.
Adams is listed as the respondent in a petition for guardianship filed in the Palmer Court, according to Alaska court documents. Cases of that type are typically sealed said a spokesperson for the Alaska Attorney General’s Office (which represented the Department of Health & Social Services).
