A 28-year-old man suspected of killing his father with a machete Sunday morning was caught at about 7:30 a.m. this morning in Anchorage after a carjacking that left one person shot, Alaska State Troopers report.
Christopher Erin Rogers Jr. was arrested following the assault at 6th Avenue and K Street in Anchorage, said Megan Peters, AST spokeswoman.
Rogers is suspected of killing his 51-year-old father Christopher Erin Rogers Sr. Sunday morning and seriously injuring his 55-year-old companion with either a machete or other large implement at their Palmer-area home on Outer Springer Loop, AST reports. Troopers responded at about 5:25 a.m. Sunday and Rogers Sr. was pronounced dead while the unidentified woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
No information was immediately available about the condition of the person shot in the carjacking, but Peters said Rogers Jr. is also suspected of the shooting.
Troopers and Anchorage Police Department will hold a joint press conference about the Palmer attack and carjacking this afternoon at 3 p.m. in Anchorage.
