ANCHORAGE — A 19-year-old man facing murder charges in the death of Michael Plummer, 43, turned himself in at the Anchorage Federal Courthouse Friday.
According to an Alaska State Trooper press statement, Spencer D. Johnson, 19, Wasilla, is charged with first-degree murder in Plummer’s death on Wednesday. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 99 years in prison.
Plummer’s fiancée, Jessica Smith said a friend was staying at their house after fighting with her husband. Andrew Johnson and his son, who was charged with Plummer’s murder, came to the house with a third man to get a truck the married couple owned Wednesday, Smith said.
She said Plummer was on his way to bed when the three men entered the home off of Knik-Goose Bay Road near Mile 15.
“He died protecting his home and family,” she said.
Johnson is being held on $100,000 bail.
After Plummer was fatally wounded, gunfire broke out in the home and the three men fled in two separate vehicles. Troopers heard much of this on a 911-call.
“The caller stated to AST that shots were fired at the vehicles as they departed, but the caller didn’t know if the shots fired resulted in any damages or injuries,” according to trooper reports.
Someone was injured. He later showed up at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center’s emergency room with a gunshot wound. The hospital called troopers and troopers were able to confirm the wounded man was involved in the fight.
